Anne Ben-Gideon is one of the bit characters who I fell in love with and would happily read an entire series about. Tell me more about her life before the events of (the flashback section of) Murder in July! I’d love a fic about her and any of her lovers (feel free to invent an OC) or about her relationship/agreement with her husband (I am such a sucker for platonic marriages of convenience). Or, if you fancy a canon-divergence AU, I would love a fic (however implausible) where someone manages to jailbreak her and she ends up escaping death.
Livia Janvier absolutely fascinates me. I love her complicated relationship with her children, and the times we see her facade crack. I would especially love to see a Livia-POV fic set during Cold Bayou, as I think this is the least composed we’ve seen her (and with good reason). I would also love her view on any events of the previous books (or if you write me shipfic with noncanonical ships, Livia’s POV on her son’s or daughter’s unorthodox relationships has the potential to be great fun).
Abishag Shaw - I have loved Shaw since his first appearance, and all I want is more of him solving crimes and using people’s perceptions of him to his advantage (and possibly banging Ben if you share my ships). If you fancy writing casefic, I would love to see his mystery-solving skills in action. I would also love some Shaw h/c – I would love to see him recovering from an injury (either a canonical or an invented one) or grieving his brother post-Shirt On His Back. I would also love to see him interacting with Ben and Rose’s kids! (Or any of the other children of the January siblings.)
Augustus Mayerling, Madeleine Mayerling - More secondary characters I would read novels about! I would love backstory on either of their lives before the events of Free Man Of Color. I’d especially love to see how the two of them met, or how Augustus became Augustus. I’d also love to see the events of the books they’re in from either Madeleine’s or Augustus’s point of view, or something domestic about their life together (maybe adopting a kid?)
Ayasha January - First off, I am always here for Ayasha-lives AUs. I would love to see her in New Orleans, meeting the rest of the cast. An even-more-optional-than-the-others prompt: Sense8/sensate AU where the awakening of the cluster draws Ben and Ayasha to leave Paris before the cholera epidemic so they can get to the rest of their cluster in New Orleans, possibly leading to some polyamorous ships (I’m into Sense8 AUs for the soulbonding aspects, so feel free to disregard the parts of the setting that aren’t about gaining a psychic bond with people—obviously any cluster in a Benjamin January setting would require having characters who weren’t born on the same day, for example). If you don’t want to resurrect Ayasha, I am also totally here for any backstory—tell me about her life before she met Ben, or about their lives together in Paris before her death.
Benjamin January - Any fic about Ben is great, and a lot of my prompts for other characters would work well with him involved. Casefic is great, as is shipfic or domestic fic about him and his family. Hurt/comfort would also be great, especially set after Cold Bayou when he’s recovering from his injury. I’ve been pondering either an always-a-woman or trans man Ben AU for a while, and would also love to see your take on that – I’m lumping them together because the setup would be the same even though Ben’s gender would be different. I could see going to school in Paris as a great setup to start living as a man, and I’d be interested to see how this AU would change Ben’s interactions with Augustus Mayerling, or any ships (canonical or not).
Chloe Viellard - I loved seeing the main characters’ opinions of Chloe change over the course of the series, and I would love a fic that gets inside Chloe’s head more. Her perspective on the events of Cold Bayou is especially on my mind since I finished the book, but her POV on events of any of the books is great. I’d also love to see more of her relationships with Henri and Dominique—whether you ship her and Minou or like them as friends, they do seem to be close and we know Chloe spends some time with Charmian. I do love platonic marriages of convenience, so I’d love to see her relationships and negotiations with Henri too.
Dominique Viellard - Some of my favorite parts of Dominique’s role in the books is when she helps Ben solve a crime, and I’d love to see a casefic where her knowledge of fashion or New Orleans social circles or something else comes in handy. I also love her relationships with Henri, Chloe, and Charmian, and would love to see shipfic or some domestic fluff. I’d also love to see her relationship with her siblings, especially set earlier in the canon and having her getting to know Ben or Olympe.
Hannibal Sefton - Hannibal is especially great for hurt/comfort and whump, given how often he gets injured or ill in canon. I’m down for addiction angst, TB angst, or any other route you want to go in that direction. I’m also always down for Hannibal ending up the damsel in distress in casefic. I’m also into Hannibal shipfic or friendship-fic with pretty much any character, or I’d love to see him babysitting any of the canonical children.
Olympe Corbier - Olympe’s life as a voodooiene is fascinating and I would love to see more of it in fic, especially from her POV (since we only see her from Ben’s perspective in the novels). I’d also love to see fic about her childhood, or about her and Ben getting to know each other again after he returns from France.
Rose Vitrac-January - Pretty much anything about Rose would be lovely, but I am especially into her doing science, teaching/interacting with her students, kidfic about her kids or her nieces and nephews, casefic, or something showing what she was up to in the books where she’s less present.
X Company

First off, I’m not quite caught up with the show yet. I’m watching as it airs on a local channel, and I still have 2 episodes of season 3 left. I’ll be caught up by the end of October and may come back to update prompts (which I’ll mark clearly as additions if I do!) But if my prompts are off when you take the last bits of the show into account, I apologize!
I am totally here for character-lives AUs for the members of the team who die in canon, but I’m also here for fic that leaves canonical deaths in (feel free to break my heart with grief!fic if you want to).
I have been enjoying the slow progression of war trauma we’ve seen in the main characters, and I’d love a fic delving deeper into that, either showing more of the reaction we see in canon or a post-war fic showing how they move on, or if they don’t move on at all (feel free to resurrect Tom, Harry, or any other character who might die in the last 2 eps for this).
There is so little NSFW fic for this fandom, and I desperately want porn. Feel free to write it about literally any ship - I can’t think of any two characters of the four nominated+Neil that I don’t ship, and I’m also down for any other characters paired with one of my requested characters or throwing in OCs (especially if you’re using the OCs to write m/m or f/f). I know I’ve already written this myself, but I am especially into the team having an orgy (whether it’s pre-Alfred when René was still with them, or after Alfred is recruited). I’m very into "fuck it, we might die tomorrow" as a setup for sex, which this setting is perfect for. (A note: if you do smut with Aurora, I prefer sex that doesn’t have a chance of getting her pregnant, whether you work in contraceptives or just don’t do PIV.)
I really love the "comes back wrong" trope, and would love a fic where any of the canonical deaths end up with a character resurrected, but not who they used to be (does one of the team use black magic? Does the death or the burial occur on hallowed or cursed ground? Feel free to use whatever justification you’d like for the resurrection).
This fandom is also a perfect vehicle for whump or h/c! Write me characters being tortured, or being injured in the line of duty and recovering, or dealing with mental trauma.
Aurora Luft - I have been really into Aurora’s conflict over what she has to do to avoid blowing her cover, and I would love a fic that really gets into her feelings about that, since the show is necessarily limited on how much of her reactions it can show. I would also love to see a backstory fic, showing her work with the Resistance before the show. And I’d also love a fic where instead of befriending Sabine, Aurora seduces her—we’ve seen her play a honeypot before, and Sabine thinking Helene loves her would certainly complicate her later feelings of betrayal deliciously. And I would love to see more about her religion! It’s mentioned in the show but we barely get any details – I don’t even think we find out if she’s more practicing or secular. I’d love to see more details about her Judaism, especially in a post-canon fic.
Alfred Graves - I am so into Alfred’s role as a rememberer of the dead, and I really want to know what he does with all the people he’s committed to memory once the war ends. It’s a heavy weight, carrying around the dead. I’m also very interested in an Alfred-POV fic in general, especially if you work in his unique POV, synesthesia, etc. (I’ve been reading him as autistic, but I’m fine with any interpretations.) I also really loved his progression into a field agent, and his season 3 war trauma manifesting, and would love to see his or the team’s reaction to his decline in function once the flashbacks start.
Tom Cummings - I am a little short on specific Tom prompts because he died in the show a while back, so he’s not as fresh on my mind. But rest assured I will love a gift about him equally! I am very into his conflict about killing people in the first season, and the way that makes him clash with the rest of the team. Also, as a h/c lover, his leg injury was wonderful for me and I’d love to see some whump or h/c set around those episodes.
Harry James - Harry’s slow slide into nihilism was fascinating and I’d love to see it explored in fic, especially how it impacts his relationships (gen or shippy) with the rest of the team. I also want to see how his parents find out about his death, given that they don’t know what he’s really doing. I would also love a fic that contrasts letters home to his parents/his cover story with what he’s actually doing in the war.

I’ve read the novel that the show is based on, so you can feel free to include book canon details. (Of course, the show is my first love, so feel free to stick to show canon.) I haven’t read the sequel, but I don’t mind being spoiled for it if you use parts of it for post-canon fic.
If you want to write darkfic, my Alienist prompts for Darkest Night might interest you! If you don’t want to click through, I asked for noncon, fuck or die, blackmail (especially about sexuality), torture, whump or h/c, forced to watch rape or torture, and traumatic pasts being revealed.
I love noncon and rape aftermath, and with the preponderance of antagonists this is a great fandom for it. I would love any character as the victim.
Laszlo Kriezler - I loved Laszlo revealing his abusive childhood to Sara, and would love fic about this discussion or about any of the other characters finding out about Laszlo’s father. I’d also love fic focused on his perception of his disability. Casefic is always great! Feel free to make up another serial killer and set Laszlo on their trail. And if you want to have Laszlo physically or sexually menaced by said serial killer, all the better. Also, I love Laszlo’s work with his Institute and the interaction we see with his patients, and would love fic exploring that as well. I am very down for grief!fic if you want to explore the impact Mary’s death had on him.
John Moore - First off, I am a real sucker for sad alcoholics, so if you want to write me something about John’s drinking problem or attempt to quit I am very here for it. Also: I was rather disappointed that the show didn’t really explore the ramifications of John’s assault at Paresis Hall, and would love a fic that does. I would also love a post-canon fic where John adopts Joseph!
Lucius Isaacson, Marcus Isaacson - I’ve put them together for ease of prompting, not because I don’t want a fic about one of the brothers individually! I am very into historical science, and would love to see more of either Isaacson exploring cutting-edge (at the time) forensic techniques. You can set it during the course of the show, or create a new case. I am also totally down for any and all shipfic involving either brother, as they are sadly unrepresented in the current existing fic.
Mary Palmer - I would love to see Mary’s first meeting or first few months with Laszlo. I’d also love to see her learning sign language! (I don’t recall if we see her signing in a specific language, or at all, in the show, but I believe ASL would have been around and popular at the time, so I could see Laszlo teaching it to her or finding someone who could.) I am very here for a Mary-lives AU, and perhaps one where she ends up getting involved in a future murder investigation. I would also love Mary/Sara shipfic or smut – I’d be especially into Mary’s jealousy of her turning into hatesex, and/or a relationship where they commiserate about Laszlo’s and John’s overprotectiveness.
Sara Howard - I love Sarah’s stubbornness and her determination to prove herself. I also really liked the backstory about her father’s death, and would love a fic about Laszlo or the other characters finding out, or a backstory fic about Sara coping with her father’s death. I also love readings of Sara as a lesbian or another flavor of queer, and would love any Sara/female character fic (feel free to go for an OC if you don’t ship her with Mary). If you want to write Sara smut, I am very into her deciding she needs to experience sex and setting out to matter-of-factly seduce any other character (or any Sara porn if that prompt doesn’t suit you). And casefic! I would love to see more of Sara solving crimes.
Stevie Taggert - I would love backstory fic showing Stevie’s first meeting or first few months with Laszlo. I’d also love to see his reaction to the murders, especially if you draw on his book backstory of sexual assault. I’d also like to see his POV on the bit where he acts as a lure for the killer, or perhaps an AU where that mission goes sideways and the adults have to rescue Stevie from the killer’s clutches. I would also love post-canon Stevie&Joseph fic, if you want to write Joseph getting taken in by John or Laszlo!
Theodore Roosevelt - I know Nothing about actual historical Teddy Roosevelt, but you are free to include historical details in your fic or just go off of the Roosevelt we see in canon. I am very into his mission to reform the New York police force, especially the delicate balancing act between making changes and keeping the police force from completely turning on him. I’m also interested in Roosevelt shipfic if you ship him with any of the characters! Or backstory about his time at school with Laszlo and John would be fun.

I love the atmosphere of the book, and would love a gift that takes place at Gruhuken and focuses on the haunting. I’m also very into post-canon fic that explores the aftermath of the haunting on Jack (and/or Gus if you choose to resurrect him).
I have this horrible plotbunny where either Gus himself or Gus’s spirit is trapped at Gruhuken, and the only way to free him is for him and Jack to have sex. Bonus points for the ghost hanging around as an incredibly creepy voyeur. I am also into the ghost raping Gus or Jack, or a dubcon fic where Jack has to have sex with the ghost to save Gus’s soul. You can really lean into the fucked-up porn here!
I lovelovelove the Comes Back Wrong trope, and would love to see a Gus-resurrection fic that plays with it. Maybe, impossibly, Gus washes up on a beach where Jack moves after the expedition, or comes knocking at his door – but something is ever so slightly off about him.
The Terror (TV)

I couldn't request "any" for this fandom, so I've chosen my four favorites. But you don't need to include all of them in your gift - I am happy with gifts that feature a smaller subset or only one of the four.
I’ve never read the novel, and I know basically nothing of the actual historical Franklin Expedition (although, fun fact, John Torrington was one of my favorite preserved corpses as a child). I prefer that you don’t contradict TV canon for character appearances and personalities, but you’re welcome to borrow plot from history or the book as long as it’s understandable to a TV fan!
Please feel free to get as gory or dark as you want. Break my heart with character deaths, dwell on cannibalism or dismemberment or torture, get real gross with your descriptions of scurvy or lead poisoning. There is no such thing as too far for me in this fandom! (You don’t have to go dark if you prefer fic on the fluffier side, though!)
Smut for literally any ship is welcome! I’m into both fully consensual, and dubcon/noncon. For dubcon or noncon, I am especially interested in Hickey being involved, either as the perpetrator or the victim. I’m fine with any of the characters as perpetrators for dubcon or noncon – I do have a preference for m/m in this regard. For consensual smut, I am embarrassingly into erectile dysfunction, so if you want to incorporate some disease symptoms and write sad porn for me, I will love you forever. (But again, anything goes for smut as long as it doesn’t violate my DNWs!)
Feel free to lean into the horror aspect of the show! I am very into ghost stories, and with all the dead characters in canon, it is ripe for some fic about hauntings. I also love the Came Back Wrong trope, and would love to see someone coming back from the dead not quite right.
I’m totally here for some-characters-live or everyone-lives AUs if you want to keep some characters alive, whether you keep them in the Arctic or send them back to England.
Francis Crozier - I love seeing explorations of alcoholism in fic, and would especially love some h/c set when Crozier is quitting drinking. I’d also love to see fic about the weight of the expedition – Crozier is in charge here, and he’s watching his men die off, and that’s horrible to live but great fun to read about. I also want to know what happens to him post-canon! Does he ever regret not revealing himself to the search party, or is he happy to be rid of the Navy and his country forever?
Silna - I want so much fic about Silna’s perspective on the events of the show. We don’t see much of her POV during the show, and I’d love to see something told from her POV. I also really loved the scenes where she was teaching Goodsir Inuktitut (I am such a sucker for language learning) and would love a fic that showcases the language exchange. And her ending in the show made me so sad! I would love to see a post-canon fic, either a fix-it where she finds her way back to a community somehow or a fic showing her finding her way on her own (or not...I’m honestly not sure if one can survive in the Arctic without a community).
Harry Goodsir - I love Goodsir’s enthusiasm about gaining knowledge at the beginning of the show, and how we see the light slowly leave his eyes as the show goes on and everything goes to shit. I was very into his friendship with Silna, and his attempts to learn Inuktitut, and would love a gift focused on that. I am also very into Goodsir whump or h/c, especially set after Hickey’s mutiny. And if I can entice you to join me in my rare ship, I am very into Goodsir/Hickey, either in an AU where Hickey’s post-whipping attempts to get on Goodsir’s good side go better than in canon, or dubcon or noncon after the mutiny.
Cornelius Hickey - Hickey is fascinating and I want all the fic about him. I’d love to see a backstory fic about him, since the show tells us so little about who he was before he assumed the Cornelius Hickey identity. I also love any and all Hickey shipfic, anywhere on the spectrum from him using relationships as another method of manipulation to actual love. A Hickey-lives AU could also be really interesting – if you follow all the way through to the mutiny, what happens to him after he’s nearly eaten by Tuunbaq only to find himself alive and alone in the Arctic?
The Halcyon

This show ended tragically soon, and I would especially love post-canon fic exploring what happens for any of the characters after the bombing of the Halcyon. There are so many plot threads to resolve! But I’m also totally here for fics set during canon (or AUs if you want!)
Adil Joshi - First off, I am totally here for Adil/Toby fluff or smut if that’s what you want to write. Smutwise, I am especially into Adil/Toby roles-reversed kink, either with Toby explicitly acting as a servant to Adil-as-a-noble, or just with Toby subbing for Adil. I also am totally down for angst about the blackmail and Adil’s suicide attempt, and I’d love post-canon fic about the aftermath.
Betsey Day - I loved her relationship with Sonny in the show, and would be very into shipfic about them. I’m also into Betsey/Emma – maybe Betsey takes it upon herself to cheer Emma up after Freddie dumps her, and that leads to makeouts and/or sex. I’d also love something building off of the finale, and Betsey’s ambiguous end – if you want to write her as dead, a ghost story could be great fun, or a fic about her recovering from injuries if you keep her alive. I also loved her complicated relationship with her mother, and would love to see a fic touching on that.
Emma Garland - I loved all of her plotlines in the show, it is hard to narrow down enough to prompt! I’d love to see more about her time in the ambulance service, her work for the hotel, or her rebuilding the hotel after the bombing. I’m also into shipfic with either O’Hara or Freddie, and would be especially into an Emma/O’Hara/Freddie triad. I also love her friendship with Betsey! I would love either gen friendship fic about them, or shipfic (I have a prompt in Betsey’s section for shipfic).
Freddie Hamilton - Freddie gets dumped into war and inheriting his father’s title, and I want all the fic about how he copes (or fails to cope) with this. I would also love family fic about him interacting with his mom and brother! I ship him a ridiculous amount with Joe O’Hara solely on the basis of them being romantic rivals and me thinking they would be hot together – perhaps what starts out as an argument about Emma turns into furious makeouts (and maybe Emma catches them at it, thinks they are really hot together, and it turns into a threeway!)
Lady Priscilla Hamilton - I desperately want to know what happens post-canon with Lady Hamilton. How does she cope with being betrayed by a man she thought loved her, killing that man, and seeing her hotel destroyed? I was also very into the Richard Garland&Lady Hamilton interactions throughout the season, and especially in the season finale, and would love to see more of the two of them (I could get behind shipping them but am also happy with gen!) And I want to know how her relationship with Toby changes after this – does she tell him the details of what happened with D’Abbeville? How does she react to her new knowledge of his relationship/sexuality?
Richard Garland - Mr. Garland is juggling so many balls throughout the season, and he does so almost flawlessly. I’d love to see more of him balancing the politics and logistics that come with running the hotel. And as I said in my Lady Hamilton prompts, I love his evolving relationship with her and would especially love to see where they go post-canon. I am so intrigued by his hidden past! I’d love to see a pre-canon fic showing more details of how he found his way to this new identity and new life, and who he was before the war. And he has a large task ahead of him rebuilding the Halcyon, and I’d love to see your take on what happens post-canon.
Toby Hamilton - Everything I said in my Adil prompts about Toby/Adil still goes. I’m also very into family fic and coming-out fic, and would love to see Freddie or Lady Hamilton’s reaction to finding out about Toby’s sexuality and relationship with Adil (whether Toby tells them or they find out some other way). I was also very into the blackmail plot, and want to know about the fallout of the blackmail and the government interrogation for Toby.
