withinadreamThank you for writing or drawing for me! I’m within_a_dream on AO3, and I have a tag of previous letters if you want to see more of my interests. This letter got very long; please don’t feel like you have to write me a novel or draw me a Boschian triptych to make me happy. I just have a lot to say about my ships! (In addition, lots of sections are copied from previous letters.)
My only DNW is pregnancy/childbirth. In fic, I’m fine with mentions of characters being pregnant or giving birth, but would prefer no detailed descriptions of pregnancy (e.g. morning sickness/other complications, the baby kicking, sex while pregnant) or childbirth. In art, I’d rather not see visibly pregnant characters at all.
I’m good with anywhere from fluff to everyone-dies angst, and any levels of gore or sexual explicitness. I’m also very open to poly relationships, involving whoever you’d like! Feel free to throw any background pairings you’d like into a fic as well, or combine several of my ships into one gift Also, my given prompts are only suggestions—so long as you keep my one DNW in mind, I’ll love anything you create for me involving these ships! I love everything we see in canon about these two, and I always want more! I’d love to see them solving mysteries together, doing science together, or talking about literature together. Parenting fluff would be lovely, if kidfic is your thing! As a notoriously bad cook myself, I love the times it’s mentioned in the books that Rose is horrible at cooking, and I’d love to read a fic showing her and Ben’s misadventures in the kitchen. I’d also love to see crossdressing spinning off of one of the times Rose has disguised herself as a boy, if you’d like to do something pornier.

I desperately want more fanworks with these two interacting. They could bond over their childhoods, and/or their hope for the future! I feel like Cosette might be very revolutionary if exposed to Les Amis, and I’d love to see how that would play out. I’m also partial to AUs where Valjean somehow adopts Feuilly as well as Cosette. You could also do an AU where Valjean mistakenly takes the wrong young man home from the barricade, and Feuilly wakes up to find himself saved and engaged to be married. (I've always had a soft spot for arranged or accidental marriages where the spouses end up friends but not lovers.)

The Cosette & Feuilly prompts also apply (with a substitution of “Valjean saves two young men from the barricade” for the last). With Marius’s passion for languages and Feuilly’s passion for learning, I think it would be fun to see Marius trying to teach Cosette and Feuilly one of the languages he knows, or other scholarly shenanigans. I’d also love to see Marius’s reaction when he discovers that Cosette is developing strong political views (which might conflict with his own?)
Combeferre/Enjolras
I’d love to see Combeferre drawing Enjolras into his scientific passions, or trying to convince Enjolras to take a (well-deserved) break. I’d also love to see how their political lives and their personal lives interact (I’m convinced that they’ve stopped in the middle of a makeout session because they got distracted talking politics at least once).
Cosette Fauchelevent & Éponine Thénardier, Cosette Fauchelevent/Éponine Thénardier
I like these two equally as platonic friends or romantically involved. They have such a rich past together, and I’d love something with the two of them working through their childhoods post-canon. They have every reason to hate each other, and I want to see them work through that.

As always, the Cosette/Eponine prompts still apply. I love Eponine-survives!AUs where she seeks shelter with the Pontmercys and they end up romantically involved, and I like my fic for this ship anywhere from very fluffy to very angsty with a heaping side of guilt for all parties involved.

My favorite thing about this pairing is Courfeyrac introducing innocent and anxious Marius to the world. I also love Marius (whose upbringing ranges from cold to downright abusive depending on how you interpret the text/which adaptation you’re going off of) learning to have friends and/or be loved.
Courfeyrac/Cosette Fauchelevent/Marius Pontmercy/Éponine Thénardier
I don’t have many foursome-specific prompts, but my prompts for the individual components of this ship should give you a good idea of what I like! I would love to see the reactions of their friends and family to the relationship arrangement, especially in canon era. Perhaps Gillenormand or another relatives takes it upon himself to tell Marius that his wife is cheating on him, not realizing that they’re all sleeping together?
Enjolras/Marius Pontmercy
I primarily ship this as angry politics-fueled hatesex (and/or hate-makeouts), but if you’d prefer to take a different tack, feel free! I’ve only got prompts for hatesex, though. Picture Enjolras deciding he needs to talk some sense into this Pontmercy after his disastrous first meeting with Les Amis (after all, he’s a friend of Courfeyrac’s, so he can’t be completely oblivious). But the conversation escalates to another argument, and Enjolras’s dommy tendencies and Marius’s subby tendencies are awoken, and things escalate. Picture Enjolras’s outrage when he realizes that not only has he slept with a Bonapartiste, he probably didn’t even manage to change Marius’s opinions.
Grantaire & Marius Pontmercy, Grantaire/Marius Pontmercy
This is another pairing which I love as either platonic or romantic. I’m fond of Grantaire introducing Marius to Paris and politics, and being much worse of an influence than Courfeyrac. Grantaire “corrupting” Marius is my ideal dynamic—but it doesn’t have to be sexual corruption (although it definitely can be). Nights out on the town, massive quantities of booze, unsavory characters, boxing lessons, makeout sessions…it’s all good!

All of the dynamics I love for Grantaire/Marius go for Grantaire/Cosette and Grantaire/Marius/Cosette as well! Imagine Grantaire goading Marius on some philosophical topic or other until finally Marius responds, and Grantaire is thrilled that Pontmercy has grown a spine. Or imagine Grantaire deciding to try out his oratory on Cosette, and finding that she’s a keen and well-read conversationalist. If the Pontmercys have children, picture how these children will react to Uncle Grantaire, and how Grantaire will interact with them.

I just love their friendship so much. Three friends who go out and get stupid drunk and do ridiculous things together (perhaps involving kissing if you matched on the romantic option)—what’s not to love! I would love a sort of canon era retelling of The Hangover, where they wake up and have to piece together just what they’d done the previous night.
Grantaire & Joly & Bossuet Laigle & Musichetta, Grantaire/Joly/Bossuet Laigle/ Musichetta
Shipwise, all of the Grantaire/Joly/Bossuet prompts apply. More prompts (from a previous letter): Best-friends-turned-lovers is a great dynamic, and please picture the chaos these four could create. It would be marvelous. I tend to think of this as established J/B/M adding Grantaire, but I could also see established J/B introducing their new mistress to their friend-with-benefits Grantaire. I’d love to see something about them getting together, or domesticity/a date night. Musichetta decides to put all of her boyfriends in dresses?
Platonically, the Grantaire & Joly & Bossuet prompts apply. I'd also love to see them decide to spend a quiet night at home, only to have things go excitingly yet horribly wrong (in whatever way captures your fancy). A night out at the theatre could also be really fun!
Javert/Marius Pontmercy
My favorite reading of this ship is that Javert is a repressed dom and Marius is a repressed sub and they have horribly unnegotiated kinky sex and feel guilty for cheating on their partners all the while (or perhaps only Marius is cheating, if you’d rather not hook Javert up with Valjean). Really, though, anything with grumpy Javert and awkward Marius would be lovely!
Javert/Montparnasse/Jean Valjean
This is another ship-of…well, not one, but very few. Someone requested this in a Les Mis exchange a few years ago, and I’ve been stuck on it ever since. They’d have the most interesting and hilarious dynamics—Montparnasse initially just wanting to con the both of them, Valjean wanting to help Montparnasse live a more upright life, Javert torn between wanting to protect Valjean from a clearly dangerous criminal and his guilty boner for Montparnasse—and I’d love to see how they get from there to an actual relationship (or you can leave it as sex that nobody talks about, if you’d rather!)
In my opinion, this would be an especially great ship for Accidental Baby Acquisition or related tropes (Valjean would be great with babies, the others…not so much). I’m also fond of Javert as either a conflicted sadist or a conflicted masochist, but too guilty to act out those desires with Valjean. Montparnasse could serve as a willing and convenient proxy at first, until Valjean figures out what’s going on and they all talk about their kinks.
It would also be fun to see them spending a relaxing evening at home together, maybe with a humorous twist. I’m picturing Valjean reading, and Javert and Montparnasse both bored out of their minds, but go wherever the prompt takes you!
Raven Cycle- Maggie Stiefvater
Blue Sargent & Gwenllian, Blue Sargent/Gwenllian
Platonic-type prompts: Blue introducing Gwenllian to modern society and technology. Blue and Gwenllian going on adventures through Henrietta. Blue and Gwenllian going thrift-shopping. Romantic-type prompts: Blue having a bisexual awakening because of Gwenllian (and Gwenllian being a brat and teasing her mercilessly about it). The women of 300 Fox Way cornering Gwenllian to give her a stern talking-to about hurting Blue, either individually or all together. (Of course, feel free to combine both sets of prompts for your gift!)
Noah Czerny/Barrington Whelk
I'm very attached to the headcanon that Noah and Whelk were dating before Noah's murder. Whelk being an incredibly obnoxious boyfriend, but Noah putting up with it because it's not like there's a plethora of queer boys at Aglionby. Whelk not reciprocating during sex. Whelk being a dick, basically. And/or some post-death angst as Noah deals with the fact that his boyfriend murdered him. (Or the others reacting to Noah gradually revealing his and Whelk's relationship?)
Blue Sargent & Noah Czerny, Blue Sargent/Noah Czerny
I loved what we saw of their friendship in the books, and anything featuring these two spending time together would be great. Something fluffy like shopping together, hanging out while Blue makes clothes, or baking together, or something involving Blue comforting Noah or vice versa.
Ship-wise, I love them as either romantically involved, or as friends with benefits. Blue's never gotten to have a relationship because of the curse, and maybe Noah didn't get much of a shot at dating before he died. The two of them fooling around together, a mixture of sexy and silly, would be lovely. If you're down with it, including past Noah/Whelk as per my last prompt (and Blue's reaction to what an insufferable bastard Noah's ex was) would be great!
Noah Czerny/Richard Gansey III/Blue Sargent
Gansey and Blue using Noah as a conduit/proxy is my favorite thing. Prompts: Blue kissing Noah and Noah passing that kiss on to Gansey, and vice versa. The three of them spooning (bonus points if Gansey's the little spoon, or if Blue and Gansey use Noah to cool down during the summer). The trio calming each other down when one gets anxious or angry or fade-y. Blue and Gansey making a Noah sandwich. Gansey taking Noah from behind as Noah eats Blue out.
Noah Czerny/Richard Gansey III/Ronan Lynch/Adam Parrish/Blue Sargent
Cuddle parties! Group naps! Everyone taking care of each other. Group makeouts and/or orgies if you're okay making something porny. Maybe something exploring how they figured out the relationship/set boundaries? Or Blue breaking out the makeup and giving everyone makeovers. (Just...think about Blue's taste in clothes and then transfer it to makeup. I feel like the results would be amazing.
Helen Gansey/Orla
How did they start dating? Does Helen take Orla on rich-people dates that Orla finds half-obnoxious and half-endearing? How do the Gansey parents feel about their daughter dating a woman? How do Gansey and Blue react to the relationship? (I could see either Helen and Orla making at least some effort to hide it, or Gansey and/or Blue being comically oblivious even though Helen and Orla are basically making out in front of them).
Shamer Chronicles- Lene Kaaberbol
For all of the ships listed, if you’d like to write post-canon fic, I’d love to see Dina working as a shamer in her own right once she grows up, and/or her interactions with her children or nieces and nephews.

This has been one of my favorite book series since I was 10, and I will love anything you write me about these ships. Dina and Rose’s friendship was one of my favorite parts of the books, and I’d love to see it grow into romance, either during the course of canon or in a post-canon work. (Also, I’m convinced that Dina’s jealousy regarding Carmian was at least partially a crush, if you’d like to work that into her realization that she’s attracted to women.)

I love that even though Tano’s been hurt by Dina’s powers before, he isn’t frightened of her. I’d love to see him as a supportive boyfriend/husband/partner as Dina works as a Shamer, or the two of them working through the traumatic experiences they’ve been through.

I’d love something set after Shamer’s War, with Dina realizing she’s in love with both Tano and Rosa and proposing the relationship. Montparnasse could serve as a willing and convenient proxy at first, until Valjean figures out what’s going on and they all talk about their kinks.
It would also be fun to see them spending a relaxing evening at home together, maybe with a humorous twist. I’m picturing Valjean reading, and Javert and Montparnasse both bored out of their minds, but go wherever the prompt takes you!

Platonic-type prompts: Blue introducing Gwenllian to modern society and technology. Blue and Gwenllian going on adventures through Henrietta. Blue and Gwenllian going thrift-shopping. Romantic-type prompts: Blue having a bisexual awakening because of Gwenllian (and Gwenllian being a brat and teasing her mercilessly about it). The women of 300 Fox Way cornering Gwenllian to give her a stern talking-to about hurting Blue, either individually or all together. (Of course, feel free to combine both sets of prompts for your gift!)
Noah Czerny/Barrington Whelk
I'm very attached to the headcanon that Noah and Whelk were dating before Noah's murder. Whelk being an incredibly obnoxious boyfriend, but Noah putting up with it because it's not like there's a plethora of queer boys at Aglionby. Whelk not reciprocating during sex. Whelk being a dick, basically. And/or some post-death angst as Noah deals with the fact that his boyfriend murdered him. (Or the others reacting to Noah gradually revealing his and Whelk's relationship?)
Blue Sargent & Noah Czerny, Blue Sargent/Noah Czerny
I loved what we saw of their friendship in the books, and anything featuring these two spending time together would be great. Something fluffy like shopping together, hanging out while Blue makes clothes, or baking together, or something involving Blue comforting Noah or vice versa.
Ship-wise, I love them as either romantically involved, or as friends with benefits. Blue's never gotten to have a relationship because of the curse, and maybe Noah didn't get much of a shot at dating before he died. The two of them fooling around together, a mixture of sexy and silly, would be lovely. If you're down with it, including past Noah/Whelk as per my last prompt (and Blue's reaction to what an insufferable bastard Noah's ex was) would be great!
Noah Czerny/Richard Gansey III/Blue Sargent
Gansey and Blue using Noah as a conduit/proxy is my favorite thing. Prompts: Blue kissing Noah and Noah passing that kiss on to Gansey, and vice versa. The three of them spooning (bonus points if Gansey's the little spoon, or if Blue and Gansey use Noah to cool down during the summer). The trio calming each other down when one gets anxious or angry or fade-y. Blue and Gansey making a Noah sandwich. Gansey taking Noah from behind as Noah eats Blue out.
Noah Czerny/Richard Gansey III/Ronan Lynch/Adam Parrish/Blue Sargent
Cuddle parties! Group naps! Everyone taking care of each other. Group makeouts and/or orgies if you're okay making something porny. Maybe something exploring how they figured out the relationship/set boundaries? Or Blue breaking out the makeup and giving everyone makeovers. (Just...think about Blue's taste in clothes and then transfer it to makeup. I feel like the results would be amazing.
Helen Gansey/Orla
How did they start dating? Does Helen take Orla on rich-people dates that Orla finds half-obnoxious and half-endearing? How do the Gansey parents feel about their daughter dating a woman? How do Gansey and Blue react to the relationship? (I could see either Helen and Orla making at least some effort to hide it, or Gansey and/or Blue being comically oblivious even though Helen and Orla are basically making out in front of them).
Shamer Chronicles- Lene Kaaberbol
For all of the ships listed, if you’d like to write post-canon fic, I’d love to see Dina working as a shamer in her own right once she grows up, and/or her interactions with her children or nieces and nephews.
Dina Tonerre/Rosa
This has been one of my favorite book series since I was 10, and I will love anything you write me about these ships. Dina and Rose’s friendship was one of my favorite parts of the books, and I’d love to see it grow into romance, either during the course of canon or in a post-canon work. (Also, I’m convinced that Dina’s jealousy regarding Carmian was at least partially a crush, if you’d like to work that into her realization that she’s attracted to women.)
Dina Tonerre/Tano
I love that even though Tano’s been hurt by Dina’s powers before, he isn’t frightened of her. I’d love to see him as a supportive boyfriend/husband/partner as Dina works as a Shamer, or the two of them working through the traumatic experiences they’ve been through.
Dina Tonerre/Tano/Rosa
I’d love something set after Shamer’s War, with Dina realizing she’s in love with both Tano and Rosa and proposing the relationship. I’d imagine the other two might take some convincing—Dina’s family seems pretty open to poly relationships, but I’d imagine the same isn’t true of the rest of the world in this universe.
