Characters kinking on their trauma – I’ve requested tags along this line for all my fandoms, so as you might guess it’s a favorite. I’m very into scenarios like, A wanting to do a rape roleplay scenario with them in a victim role after being raped in real life, but I’d also be into the reverse scenario with A getting something out of being the dom/rapist/etc in that rape roleplay scenario. (And feel free to apply to non-rape trauma as well!)

And like, the whole book is about his life in the palace adjusting to no longer being under the thumb of and hiding from his abusive family, but I always enjoy more along those lines. And while life at the palace is certainly BETTER than with his family, he's still trapped in the middle of political machinations and adult concerns that he doesn't entirely understand, and I'd love to see how that compares and contrasts to his time with his family. As well as how the war affects him!!

I already really enjoy how canon traumatizes its characters and then explores that trauma, so if you want to give me just more of canon or some missing scenes, feel free! I also really enjoy noncon, and this fandom is sadly lacking in noncon fics (admittedly it is hard to find ways for the royal characters to be raped, but I don’t need an entirely logical plot). The political elements of canon are also very fun, and I love how the characters’ feelings and trauma intersect with the roles they have to play.

Fandom-specific DNW: Attolia or Eddis having consensual PIV sex with anyone who isn't their husbands, unless they're already pregnant at the time. Any other type of sex is fine, I just get irrationally worried about the line of succession if someone else could have possibly knocked them up!

I requested Dom and Silas in a pair because regardless of who’s being traumatized here, the most fun part for me is their lover finding out about it, observing it or its aftermath, or discussing it. I did David alone not because I wouldn’t love a David/Richard work – I love them as a couple and would really enjoy it! But I also really love all of his platonic relationships, and wanted to leave room for a work featuring him and Silas, or him and Will and Jon, or him and his mother. Or, you know, David suffering in silence alone, because he’d definitely not want to tell anyone about whatever trauma this is unless there are extenuating circumstances. I’ve written more about noncon options for David and Dom in my Consent Issues letter, but am also totally down for Silas being the one who’s raped. And for Silas in particular, we already see his issues around impact play stemming from his experience with flogging, and there’s room in his backstory for all sorts of trauma. (And I’ve read one very good fic where he has to whip Dom for Reasons and I would love more works along those lines, where consensual kink or a fuck-or-die scenario treads too close to something in his past and Dom comforts him about it.)

Cosette &/ Eponine: I’m fascinated by how their shared childhood might impact an adult relationship between them, were they to have one. Eponine was the “golden child” when they were young, so I could see Cosette resenting her, but she obviously didn’t have a great go of it once Cosette left either. I’m also very into Eponine surviving getting shot and recovering in the Pontmercy household, with Cosette helping to nurse her back to health.

Marius/Cosette: so obviously Marius has a lot to be fucked up about with his experience at the barricades, and all of his friends dying. Cosette has her childhood with the Thenardiers. I’d be into Marius having some childhood trauma as well – his grandfather is an asshole, and I feel like any variety of abuse could be plausible there. In general I really like a Marius/Cosette relationship where they’re two traumatized dorks who have to work hard to understand and find happiness with each other.

Marius/Cosette/Any – Marius and Cosette are like, my little black dress of poly ships, I love combining them with literally anyone. You could have one or more of Les Amis also survive the June Rebellion and end up recuperating with the Pontmercys (perhaps Valjean grabs someone else in addition to Marius, perhaps Marius bails them out of jail, or something else) and depending on which Ami you pick, watching them react to surviving a losing rebellion could be very interesting. Javert recovering from a near-drowning with them and falling for them could be fun. Marius/Cosette/Eponine is also very fun, especially with the shared history with Cosette and Eponine. If you want to get incestuous and do Marius/Cosette/Valjean, that’s also great by me! Or any other character I’ve forgotten! Or an OC, or a crossover character – I really do love Marius and Cosette with literally everyone.
