withinadreamThank you for writing or drawing for me! Previous letters are under my letter tag, and I’m within_a_dream on AO3. I’m requesting either fic or art for all fandoms/ships!
My only squick is detailed descriptions of pregnancy and childbirth. (Given the nature of some of the canons I've nominated, I'm fine with mentions, but I'd rather not receive a piece of art featuring a prominently pregnant character or a story focusing primarily on a character's experience with pregnancy.) I’d also prefer fics and art set in canon era for historical fandoms, rather than modern AUs. Aside from the ships I requested, I’m an avid multishipper, so feel free to throw in any ships (of any gender configuration) you want! (I’d prefer poly ships to infidelity, though.) I enjoy gen, explicit porn, and anything in between.
General tropes I like: hurt/comfort, supernatural AUs (e.g. ghosts, magic, zombie apocalypse), babysitting/Accidental Baby Acquisition, casefic (for applicable fandoms), competency kink (or, one character teaching or explaining something they're good at to another character, and said other character being impressed--bonus if the skill isn't something people are usually impressed by)
Shippy tropes/kinks I like: sexuality angst, BDSM (with a preference to femdom and/or a male sub, and a preference to characters [especially historical characters] accidentally discovering how much they like bondage or biting or whatever kink you’d prefer), sex pollen/assorted tropes, cuddling, first-time/relationship setup
The Benjamin January mysteries
I don’t have any fanart-specific prompts for this fandom, but if you’re an artist and you’re interested in giving me a gift, I would be thrilled with literally any fanart related to the series/the nominated ships!
-Benjamin January/Rose Vitrac/Hannibal Sefton: I’d love something describing how Hannibal ended up romantically involved with Ben and Rose (with how low his self-esteem is, I feel like they’d need to go to a lot of effort to convince him they’re really interested). If you’d rather do established relationship, I’d love to see them talking about science or medicine or literature or any of their other interests. I also desperately want fic involving Rose failing miserably at cooking.
-Benjamin January/Hannibal Sefton: I’m the most interested in a relationship between these two before Ben meets Rose. I could see Ben viewing their relationship as just sex, and then panicking a bit as he realizes he’s in love.
-Rose Vitrac/Hannibal Sefton: We didn’t really get to see the origin of their friendship in canon, and I’d love something focusing on how they first met, and how Rose grew to trust Hannibal. Alternatively, seeing what they get up to on their own post-Rose/Ben (maybe set during Good Man Friday?) would be neat!
-Rose Vitrac/Cora Chouteau: Perhaps some sort of backstory, focusing on them growing up together? I love how despite the differences in their interests and strengths, Cora and Rose are still so close.
-Dominique Viellard/Chloe Viellard: I would especially love first-time fic for this pairing. When did their relationship turn romantic? Who initiated it? I headcanon Chloe as a lesbian, and I’m always up for people feeling conflicted about their sexuality if you want to work that into the fic.
Les Miserables
I’ve read the Brick, and seen a few stage adaptations and the 2012 film, so whichever canon you want to base your gift on is fine by me!
-Grantaire/Marius Pontmercy: The first live production I saw of Les Mis had Grantaire kiss Marius during Red and Black, and I’ve been shipping it ever since. I could see Grantaire flirting with Marius, and Marius being totally oblivious until Grantaire takes drastic action. I see Grantaire as being as openly bi as one would be in the 1830s, and Marius as not even fully realizing he’s into guys.
-Feuilly/Cosette Fauchelevent: I know these two have never interacted in canon, but I feel like with their backgrounds and interests, they’d get along quite well. I would love to see them bonding over learning new things together or teaching each other. How you get them together is up to you: everyone-lives AU? Valjean takes the wrong guy back from the barricades (or Valjean takes two guys back from the barricades) AU? (If Marius is in the picture, I’d prefer an open relationship to Cosette cheating on him—you can throw Marius into the ship too if you’d like!)
-Javert/Marius Pontmercy: If you’re inclined to go kinky on this one, I could see Javert being conflicted about his dommy tendencies, and Marius being conflicted about his subby tendencies, and the two of them having guilty sex (or guilty non-sexual D/s sessions) together. If that’s not your thing, I would love to see Javert being both exasperated by and attracted to Marius, and all the internal conflict that causes him. This could be set during canon, or in a post-Seine/Javert lives AU—if the latter, this is the one ship where I’d be okay with infidelity (i.e. Marius cheating on Cosette), but if she eventually either gets in on the relationship or figures out Marius’s kinks, so much the better.
Anything Goes
I played in the pit for this show in high school, so I’ve had plenty of time to come up with ridiculous headcanons and ships. (I’ve only ever seen my school’s production, so I have no strong opinions on character appearances or which production I’d prefer you to base your gift on.)
- "Moonface" Martin/"Snake Eyes" Johnson: I know this is a bit out there, but I’ve got a headcanon that Moonface and Snake Eyes were romantically involved, and then Snake Eyes sold Moonface out. In retaliation, Moonface killed him. If you wrote anything for this ship, even if it doesn’t involve my overly-complicated setup, I would be thrilled!
- Billy Crocker/Hope Harcourt/Lord Evelyn Oakleigh/Reno Sweeney: I’m dying for any sort of poly fic with these four, especially if it starts out as mostly-straight but ends with Reno/Hope and Billy/Evelyn. (I could see Evelyn being dorkily enthusiastic about seducing Billy especially, and Billy being nervous about being involved with another man but eventually going for it.) Basically, my preferred solution to any love triangle/whatever other shape is polyamory, and I’d love to see any take on what kind of relationship you think these four would form.
- Lord Evelyn Oakleigh/Reno Sweeney: These two are just the cutest, and I’d love to see anything involving them. Maybe Reno getting used to the aristocratic life? Or perhaps she takes Evelyn to New York for a bit, and he takes great delight in experiencing American life.
Agent Carter
- Peggy Carter/Daniel Sousa/Jack Thompson: I would love to see how this relationship got started, or just PWP, or a “date night”. I’ve got a preference for a hate-sex dynamic, and/or Thompson being subby. I’d also like to see their relationship bleeding into their work, however much they try to hide it.
Graceland
- Paul Briggs/Charlie DeMarco/Johnny Tuturro: I could see this starting out as Briggs and Charlie jokingly flirting with Johnny (which, if I’m remembering correctly, actually happened in season 1?), but then Johnny finding that he really likes the idea of being with both of them, and asking them out and/or propositioning them. If you want to write porn, I’d love Briggs and Charlie domming Johnny (or taking control of the sex if you don’t want to go for BDSM.)
- Carlito Solano/Johnny Tuturro: I prefer my fic/art for this ship at least a little screwed-up, rather than entirely fluffy. I’d love to see Johnny falling for Carlito, romantically or sexually or both, and feeling incredibly afflicted about that. And of course Carlito is incredibly volatile—if it’s your thing, I’d like to see Johnny being both terrified of Carlito and attracted to him. As always, a D/s dynamic between them would be wonderful, if you’re into that (with either as the dom/sub). Or maybe a past Carlito/Johnny relationship as the backdrop, and Johnny trying to come to terms with his attraction to men/having rebound sex with guys as well as girls. (If you wanted to put both of my requested Graceland ships into one fic, you could have Johnny come to Briggs and Charlie with his complicated feelings about Carlito.)
Penny Dreadful
- Angelique/Dorian Gray: I love pretty much everything we saw of them in canon; I’d love a gift that plays with the contrast of how good Dorian is at wooing people and how frightening he can be when he gets bored. I’d also love to see some of Angelique’s backstory.
- Angelique/Vanessa Ives: Any femslash involving Vanessa is A+ in my book. I’d love to see your take on how these two meet—does Vanessa know that Angelique is involved with Dorian, and seduce her because of that? Is it the other way around? Again, if you can find a way to include some backstory for Angelique I would love it.
- Ethan Chandler & Ferdinand Lyle, Ethan Chandler/Ferdinand Lyle: My prompts for a friendship fic are essentially the same, so I’m lumping them (as well as the next two requests) together. Lyle and Ethan’s canon dynamic is amazing, and I’d love anything with them flirting, and/or Lyle being impressed by Ethan’s past. Or perhaps the two of them talking after the season finale, a la Lyle’s offer to Victor.
- Ethan Chandler & Sembene, Ethan Chandler/Sembene: I loved the friendship that developed between these two during the second season, and I want anything more about them. They’ve both done things in their past that they’re ashamed of, and I would love to see something with them discussing that. Or something with them bonding over how ridiculous some of the other people in the gang can be.
- Ethan Chandler/Dorian Gray/Vanessa Ives: Tell me about Dorian seducing these two, and about the ridiculous dates they go on and/or the wild sex they have.
- Lily Frankenstein/Vanessa Ives: I’d especially love to see Lily’s motivation for this. Does she just want a normal relationship with someone? Does she think that by getting close to Vanessa she can get some more intel on Victor? Does she think that cheating on Victor with his friend will hurt him? And like I said earlier, I always want more femslash involving Vanessa!
- Vanessa Ives & Sembene: I love how much Sembene cares about Vanessa. Something focusing on Sembene helping Vanessa, and Vanessa finding ways to help Sembene as well, would be wonderful.
The Glamourist Histories
If you want to go in a shippy direction, I love all of the canon ships, and honestly if you have a non-canon ship that you love, I will probably love it too. There’s a grand total of one fic for this series the last time I checked, so I would be thrilled with anything. (A note: I’m halfway through Of Noble Family as of writing this letter, and I’ll be finished by the time I receive your gift.) A few prompts:
-The worldbuilding in this series fascinates me, and I would love to see how historical events, technological or scientific events, etc. would have been affected by the existence of glamour.
-I wasn’t expecting to love Jane and Vincent’s relationship as much as I did. Anything about their relationship and/or their work together would be lovely. (Maybe the two of them working with a particularly difficult client?)
-I headcanon Vincent as bi, but very conflicted about it due to his upbringing (and the events of his childhood detailed in Of Noble Family), and I would love something about him coming out to Jane—maybe after the trial, he could tell her about a lover from his school days? Given her reaction to finding out about the prostitute he frequented in his youth, I can’t imagine Jane would take it too well at first, but I think she’d come around eventually.
-I also love Melody and her husband, so anything focusing on them (we see so little of them in the series!) would be wonderful
Poldark
I’ve only seen the 2015 miniseries, but I don’t mind spoilers—so feel free to bring in later plot events from other adaptations or the original novels as long as it’s not the main focus of the fic.
- Demelza Carne/Verity Poldark: These two have such lovely interactions in canon! I’d love to see Verity teaching Demelza more about how to fit into high society. Maybe a dance lesson that turns to kissing? A conversation about love (Verity’s seemingly-doomed relationship with Blamey and Demelza’s uncertainty about Ross’s feelings for her) that turns to a realization about their feelings for each other? I’m fine with infidelity for this pairing as long as it’s not the focus of the fic, but I would love you forever if you figured out a vaguely-in-character way to have Demelza and Ross agree on an open relationship/polyamory/whatever.
- Francis Poldark/George Warleggan: By contrast, the infidelity is the appeal of this one. I want Francis in all his self-loathing glory having angry and/or guilty sex with George, maybe with business concerns mixed in. (This wasn’t nominated, but I also ship George/Ross, so if you want to work in something with Francis knowing George is sleeping with or pining after his cousin and feeling inadequate because of it, that’d be excellent.) And George’s seduction of Elizabeth during the end of the first season fits nicely into this—perhaps Francis broke things off, and George wants to make him jealous?
